Creative Healing is an excellent modality for many reasons. I have used it for years to help people with all sorts of issues. I’m known for my sciatic treatment. It is pure Creative Healing. Migraines? Nausea? Shortness of breath? All can be addressed with Creative Healing.
There are many reasons why Creative Healing is great for prenatal clients. Dr. Gowri Motha ObGyn in London, England uses and teaches Creative Healing as part of her Gentle Birth Method program. In 2004 Rebecca A. Jackson and I traveled to England to teach a class for Dr. Motha. We had several midwives and other therapists from her staff and the surrounding area in attendance. We taught a 30 hour class which focused on the specific Creative Healing applications most often used with prenatal clients. Dr. Motha lists several in her book titled The Gentle Birth Method. The trip totally changed how I perceived my work.
I have excerpted here a description of The Gentle Birth Method written by actress Gwynneth Paltrow.
“Gowri Motha is an obstetrician turned Gentle birth practitioner based in London who was invaluable to me during my pregnancy. After spending years delivering babies in UK hospitals, she came to understand that giving birth did not have to be as difficult and stressful as it can be for some, many times leading to caesareans that could have been avoided, etc. So, she developed a method of preparing mothers for giving birth called the Gentle Birth Method, which is described in her book and encompasses diet, gentle exercise tips, Reflexology, Creative Healing- lymphatic drainage massage, Reiki, visualization, emotional preparation and more.”

I had the opportunity to work on several prenatal clients in Dr. Motha’s clinic in St John’s Wood during the time I was there. The proof of Dr. Motha’ regime was easy to see. Her ‘mums’ are strong and fit and relaxed. Her clientele includes Elle MacPherson, Stella McCartney, Sam Taylor Wood and Kate Moss. Strong women who are committed to the best possible health for themselves and their baby. A woman who uses her whole program changes a lot of her life in order to become ‘birth fit’. Creative Healing is a part of that and I had been doing the work on my clients for 4 years when I went to England.
When I returned to Arkansas I began to implement the Gentle Birth Method at my office. I had several women who bought the book and saw me on a regular basis and followed Dr. Motha’s book at home.
Just this past week I heard from a woman I’d not chatted with since her baby was born. She had an amazing story. I post our Facebook Conversation here.
Not at all. The doctor could not understand why I didn’t have gestational diabetes. Was shocked and thought the test was wrong. I sailed right through – did end up with a c section, but that’s because his head and shoulder were 14.5, and there was no way he could fit out. He has not had any health problems and was an easy infant – all because of the lack of stress during the pregnancy.
It is SO rewarding to find out that your work makes a difference in the world. I have been feeling a shift for sometime. I want to help others help their family and I will begin teaching couples classes this month. I am also going to concentrate more on my classes for women. I am ready for a new adventure. 🙂
