During my last Creative Healing class we were doing what is known as the heart treatment. During this application of massage the practitioner and the client must be silent. The movements of the massage work is very light and rhythmic as the therapist concentrates on the tissues and fluids around the area of the heart. The intention is to relieve pressure and allow the heart more space. The focus is on the area under the ribs and the attachment of the diaphragm, the intercostal muscles and the attachments to the sternum as well as the protective fluid sac that is around the heart. The intention is to relax the area that might restrict the client from being able to take a full deep breath. Since the work focuses inward deep into the body and the client is asked to remain quiet and let the process work, many times what I would call ‘a sacred space’ is created. I watched as Keith became more focused in his work and when I saw the peace come over both his and Dee’s face I decided to take a photograph. I love spontaneous moments when healing seems to happen. I had no idea the photo would turn out like this. I’m not sure what happened but its beautiful don’t you think? The massage application is for stress, anxiety, depression, high and short breathing, as well as pain and restriction in the neck and shoulders. This class is called Honoring the Breath and is also part of the 100 hour Creative Healing certificate class.
